ST CROIX VIRGIN ISLANDS: What is it like in 2021?

Is it safe to travel to St. Croix? This week we’re flying to St. Croix in the USVI’s. This island was hard-hit by hurricane Maria in 2017 and now hasn’t seen many tourists in months. We’re continuing to explore safe travel in 2021.

ABOUT US: We’re traveling full time, living on our own terms and showing you the up-close-and-personal details of us figuring it out along the way. Sometimes it’s about navigating big, life-altering decisions. Sometimes it’s about navigating the seemingly lawless free-for-all that is driving in Hanoi. It’s moments of triumph and moments of panic.

The good, the bad, the ugly – and most importantly, the real and real funny. We’re not here to tell you “how it’s done.” Just how we’ve done it. And that whatever it is that’s calling you – the way you’ll do it is much more attainable than it may seem. We believe the world’s a more interesting place when people reject convention in favor of what they actually care about. This is us putting that idea to the test – one budget spreadsheet, RV renovation and mountain-peak drone video at a time.

  1. St croix is ruined now years back it was in it's prime lived there for years left 5 years ago the hurricane made me stop from returning there's bigger sharks now out far where my grandfather and my dad worked the sharks are probably around 20 feet by now bc them reef opened up more watch out for scentipeeds to no carpet floors either there used to be no snakes on the island more came because people would travel and drop their snakes their my house is on a hill in Christanstead

  2. I spent 2 years there starting after the hurricanes in 2017 repairing the Islands…. I had a great time…

  3. I loved seeing the waterline showing when halfway underwater and above water! Waterline showing when halfway underwater and above water and then slowly going all the way underwater and then slowly coming halfway out of the water! I also loved seeing the waterline showing when coming all the way out of the water from halfway underwater and above water slower to still see a crystal clear waterline! I saw the waterline showing when halfway underwater and above water and then slowly going all the way underwater as well! I also love seeing the waterline showing when halfway underwater and above water and then slowly seeing the waterline moving up higher like we’re almost going all the way underwater! I loved it!❤️🐋👙💧🐬🌊🦈💕😍🥰😘

  4. That's a shame. Beautiful place. I want to visit a place where I won't get hustled right to off the plane because a broken economy.

  5. Thanks Tim and Fin . I was born and raised in St. Croix until I was 17 yrs old . Now I am 66 and living in Miami, Florida and I appreciate your video of the island. Don't bother with the negative comments is just jealousy vibes..Be Safe. Love the pouch..She is so beautiful..Happy trails..😎

  6. I don’t know if you guys already did this. I was wondering if you can make a video of step by step flying with a pet.

  7. On my list of places to go before I die; because I loved the movie "Trading Places" and this is where they went for the end shot… "LOOKING GOOD BILLY RAY!!"

  8. If this is travel, I’ll stay home and drink Cruzan Rum. I don’t drink coke because they’ll say I’m too white for coke. I’ll mix it with ginger beer

  9. Hahaha I pick sum ppl up from da airport n it was der first time in da🇧🇸 not only u but dey freak right out wen dey c I was drivin on da left hand side as well!!! I Wonda y every1 started screamin tell 1 of der friends say I cud of do dat!!! Lol We all had da laugh of da day💪🏿🤣🤣🤣😭😭

  10. You should tell everybody the name of the artist of the giant rooster that's the best part of the whole video

  11. Thanks for your information!! It's very valuable for people like me who haven't traveled for years. Looking to change that!!🌞🌞

  12. We tested weekly at my place of employment from late last year till our second shot last week. Insane…. my brain must look like one of those street signs in the country that has 40 bullet holes.

  13. Great video! Planning a trip to St Croix soon. What room did you have at The Fred? It looked amazing.

  14. HI T&F…family and I were just there two weeks ago and loved it. The wife and I are going back in June and looking at real estate. Personally it took a couple days to find our fun but when we discovered Fredricksted and the beach to north of the pier I really fell in love. Have a good one!

  15. Do you know the best place to look for long term rentals if you want to move to the US Virgin Islands for seasonal work?

  16. Hey! I'm a vlogger from St. Croix. If you're thinking about visiting, my videos are a great place to get a feel of what it's like here 😁

  17. I spent 13 weeks on St. Croix in 2017 and '18, helping it recover from TWO hurricanes in rapid succession: Irma AND Maria. Lovely people, some beautiful places, but a fair bit of poverty and joblessness, even before the hurricanes.

  18. Traveling with your dog is rude to other passengers. Get your dog bordered while you are gone… You should think of others and not just yourself…

  19. So you paid for your trip your are five days out and you get a false positive… Do you just forsake your monies spent?

  20. I went back in 13' and had a blast!
We stayed at The Buccaneer resort. Very BEAUTIFUL.
It does take adjusting to driving on the opposite side of the road, lol

  21. My in laws just had a whole ordeal with airline travel and their 70lb lab and cat. They moved from PR up here to MT and it was easily 3w of stress, tons of calls and changes. They ended up with 2 flights booked the same day, but only using one, borrowing and mailing back a carrier from their vet bc the airline changed the crate restrictions days before (cost $1000 to send the crate back), and taking 16 hours to go from sju to mia from drop off to pick up. Worth it, but boy it was intense.

  22. I don’t understand this hate for what you call travel shaming. Travel jobs were decimated during the pandemic no question. Whether you need to get on a plane and be a vector is a different story. I see you’ve tried to be careful but the risk is still there. For people who have had family members die during the pandemic your stance seems frivolous and out of touch. Support businesses without putting people at risk. That’s the message. Get creative.
